We Understand

I understand what you’re going through because I’ve been there before. In the early 2000s, I was in the process of getting out of my parked 4Runner in New Orleans when all of a sudden “Wham!” I was rear-ended by a driver who was accelerating as he hit me, and the impact was so hard that it pushed my vehicle forward, and he hit me again. I remember being disoriented – my ears ringing from the impact – while I was in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Over the course of the next six months, I went to more doctor visits than I can recall. But I thought for sure that because the other driver was clearly at fault the insurance company would make it right. Although I was an attorney myself – representing companies in lawsuits involving contractual disputes against other companies – this was my first introduction to dealing with an insurance company in a personal injury case. It was also the first where I was the one making a claim. And let me tell you, it was a real eye-opener!

I witnessed first-hand the delay and denial tactics that the insurance adjusters and the powerful corporate insurers would resort to in order to try to keep from paying me a fair amount for my medical bills, time off work to get treatment, and the pain and inconvenience that I had suffered. After litigating the case in court, we were ultimately able to come to a resolution. But I quickly
realized that if the insurance company had the nerve to stonewall an attorney who was making a personal injury claim on his own behalf, imagine how they treat the everyday people pursuing claims who don’t have a knowledgeable personal injury lawyer in their corner.

That experience is part of what helped me to realize that my calling wasn’t to represent corporate interests but instead to help people. I knew that injury victims needed an attorney who would be willing to fight back against the corporate bullies and insurance companies, which I saw firsthand will go to extreme measures to avoid responsibility and adequately compensate injury victims. That’s just the path that I took when I moved back to my hometown of Meridian, Mississippi, and went into practice with my father, Joe Clay Hamilton, at The Hamilton Law Firm. And I’m proud to say that I’ve been fighting for injury victims’ rights every day since then. I’ve been in your shoes before, so I know what you’re going through. And I want you to know that we are here to fight for you every step of the way. If you’ve been a victim of an injury due to someone else’s carelessness, I hope that you’ll give us the opportunity to help you like we’ve been able to help so many injured Mississippians over the past three-plus decades at The Hamilton Law Firm.
